Seacon Shipping Group's fleet reaches to 30 ships!

On June 6, 2024, Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc. (referred to as "Zhoushan Tsuneishi") held a naming and delivery ceremony for an 82,400 DWT bulk carrier built for Seacon Shipping Group (" stock code: 02409.HK). The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Takuya Fujii General Manager of Sales at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Inc (Japan); Yoshifumi Murakami, General Manager of Zhoushan Tsuneishi; Jia Tianfei Vice President of BOC Leasing; Guo Jinkui, Chairman of Seacon Shipping Group, and Chen Zekai, General Manager of Seacon Shipping Group; Yang Weidong, Deputy General Manager of Zhejiang Xinyihai Shipping; Katsumasa Mizunaga, General Manager of the Shanghai Branch of ClassNK (China) and Chen Xiangwei, General Manager of its Zhoushan Branch. Ms. Zhang Xinhong, General Manager of the Finance Department at BOC Leasing was invited to become the godmother of the vessel and named it "SEACON ANTWERP."



The vessel *SEACON ANTWERP* is a Kamsarmax bulk carrier designed and built by Tsuneishi Zhoushan Shipyard for Seacon Shipping Group. The ship measures 229 meters in length, 32.26 meters in width, and 20.15 meters in depth, with a gross tonnage of 44,000. The vessel is eco-friendly, energy efficiency, and strong versatility. This project represents BOC Leasing Inc in serving renowned shipowners, collaborating with reputable shipyards, and participating in prominent ship types. As the only ship financing platform under the Bank of China and the youngest financial leasing company in the industry, BOC Leasing plays a pivotal role in the maritime leasing sector. As a rising force in shipping finance and leasing industry, BOC Leasing actively implements the State Council’s *Action Plan for Large-Scale Equipment Upgrades and Old-to-New Consumer Product Replacement*, strongly supporting the scrapping of high-energy, high-emission old vessels the deployment of green or energy-efficient ships. Through financial leasing, it aims to contribute to achieving the nation’s dual-carbon (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality) strategic goals.


The *SEACON ANTWERP* combines unique hull design with proprietary fuel efficiency technologies, significantly improving the ship's performance and economic efficiency. It complies with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3 requirements. Compared to the first Kamsarmax vessel delivered by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding in 2005, its fuel consumption per ton-mile has been further reduced by approximately 31%. Additionally, the ship is equipped with environmentally friendly technology to effectively prevent air pollution caused by nitrogen oxide, sulfur oxide emissions and marine pollution caused by oil leaks.


In recent years, the global shipping industry has faced unprecedented challenges with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) companies must find a balance between environmental protection and operational costs. Seacon Shipping Group has demonstrated a leading position in addressing these challenges several years ago, Seacon Shipping Group recognized the profound impact that carbon emission regulations would have on the future of the shipping industry. In response, the company swiftly decided to launch a large-scale fleet renewal program. This decision was not only reflected a precise grasp of market trends but also served as a long-term plan.

Notably, during the naming and delivery ceremony, Seacon Shipping Group also donated multimedia digital integrated machines to Xiushan Central Kindergarten in Zhoushan, supporting local preschool education and demonstrating the company's social responsibility.
